LEWISTON – Maine Cardiology Associates has been accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories. It is being recognized for high quality of the diagnostic testing and patient care at its outpatient labs in Lewiston and Portland.

Maine Cardiology Associates is the only nationally accredited outpatient lab in Maine performing nuclear cardiology testing, a noninvasive procedure during which the heart is evaluated at rest and during exercise using a small amount of radioisotope. It allows a physician to detect the presence of cardiovascular disease. It is a complex imaging technique requiring extensive experience and training of both physician and technologist.

Approximately 5.5 million stress nuclear cardiology studies are performed each year in the United States.
