AUBURN – Roak The Florist has recently been acquired by Michael Small and Elizabeth Berry-Small.
Michael’s grandfather, Harry Small, worked at Roak’s for 60 years as a grower and was a stockholder in the company. Richard Small, Michael’s father, was involved with Roak’s for more than 50 years. He was employed in the greenhouse division until he purchased the business in 1976. From 1976 to 2003, Richard was president and owner of the corporation and made many changes and improvements to make it what it is today, a full-service flower shop, gift shop and garden center.
Michael Small has been at Roak’s for 21 years as a grower and manager and now co-owns the business with his wife Elizabeth. The combined partnership totals 42 years of experience in the floral and greenhouse industry and plans to continue the legacy of professionalism and quality started by Michael’s grandfather and father.
Roak the Florist has had several locations through the 130 years it has been operating. They currently are the anchor store for the Florist Mall, located at 245 Center St. in Auburn.
The Smalls don’t see any big changes in the near future for the company, and their focus will continue to be customer service, design and holiday and spring plant materials.
