LEWISTON — HealthSteps, a health education and prevention program for adults offered through St. Mary’s Health System has announced its fall core classes.

Healthsteps has a wide range of classes with the core membership fee. The fall core classes will run from Tuesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, Dec. 18 and include:

Aquatic Fitness: A toning and calorie burning workout. Swimming skills are not needed, but a comfort level in both deep and shallow water is important. Class will meet from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Core and Stretch: An abdominal and lower back workout to help increase flexibility and strength. The class will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Mix It Up: A class for people who get bored with exercise, participants will try everything from step and kickboxing to dance and hi-lo. Class will meet from 7 to 7:45 a.m.
Wednesdays.

Lap Swim: Participants may swim at their own pace in the 25-meter, eight-lane pool supervised by a certified lifeguard. Swim times are from 6:05 to 7:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 6:05 to 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Step Aerobics: The high-energy workout offers a safe and low-impact option for those who would like a more intense class. Class will be held from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
Mondays.

Step and Tone Interval: The class will alternate between low-impact step aerobics and total body strengthening exercises for an all around workout. Class will meet from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m.
Fridays.

TNT (Tone-N-Tighten): The weighted workout focuses on strengthening the major muscle groups of the upper and lower body using resistance tubes, bands and weights. It’s also a great way to increase metabolism. Class will meet from 7 to 7:45 a.m. and 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
Mondays and Wednesdays.

Time to Relax: Take time to cool down and unwind with deep relaxation, from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m. Fridays.

Walk Jog: Participants can use the indoor track at their own pace and there will be a group warm-up, strengthening, cool-down and stretching. The program will meet from 6:05 to 6:55 a.m.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Yogalates on the Ball: The class is a fusion of yoga and Pilates on an exercise ball to increase flexibility, improve coordination and develop strength. Class will be held from 7:15 to 8 a.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays.

All core classes are held in the Bates College Merrill Gymnasium. The cost of a core membership, which includes all of the above classes, is $112. All instructors are certified and will take participants through a safe and productive workout no matter what the fitness level.
