BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A property owner’s group is appealing a Maine Department of Environmental Protection permit issued for a 40-turbine wind farm on Rollins Mountain in Burlington, Lee, Lincoln and Winn.

The Friends of Lincoln Lakes says the agency and developer First Wind failed to fully consider the impact of noise, vibrations and light flicker on people and wildlife.

Lawyer Lynne Williams of Bar Harbor, who represents the group, tells the Bangor Daily News that she hopes a hearing will be granted where the group’s evidence can be presented.

Company officials hope to begin construction this year on the $130 million project, pending approval from the Army Corps of Engineers. No construction dates have been set.
