EASTON (AP) – Students and adult chaperones at northern Maine’s Easton High School who raised $65,000 for a summer trip to France have been left in the lurch because of financial problems at their Massachusetts-based tour company.
The Bangor Daily News said there’s little hope the trip will take place because the money was sent to Voyageur Educational Tours, which filed for bankruptcy several weeks ago.
Frank Keenan, Easton’s school superintendent, said the school has worked with Voyageur for years. A prosecutor told the school that the chances of recovering the $65,000 were slim.
Company representatives could not be reached for comment.
