GRAND FALLS, New Brunswick (AP) – The search for a young New Brunswick girl has moved more than 25 miles downstream of where she was carried away by the St. John River.
Thirteen-year-old Shannon Bernard and friends were swimming Friday in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, when she was taken away by the current.
Grand Falls is located across the border from Hamlin, Maine.
Police say the group was in a dangerous area near the Wells in the Rocks lookout, a popular tourist spot overlooking a gorge and falls.
Grand Falls Police Chief Jean Real Michaud says crews are now using an underwater camera to look under docks in Perth Andover. An aircraft also planned to join the search Monday.
