BANGOR (AP) – Two Piscatquis County men have sentenced to 10 years in prison for a marijuana-growing operation they ran.

Judge John Woodcock sentenced 32-year-old Alton Sherman and 28-year-old Richard Rodrigue II, both of Brownville, in U.S. District Court in Bangor on Thursday on marijuana and firearms charges.

Sherman pleaded guilty to the charges in September. Rodrigue was convicted by a jury in July.

Sherman and Rodrigue were arrested in 2002 after sheriff’s deputies seized the pot plants in an elaborate setup with grow lights, timing devices and fans used to vent the smell of marijuana from a remote camp where the men were staying.
