PITTSFIELD (AP) – Maine State Police appealed to the public Friday for help in locating a truck driver from Aroostook County who vanished more than a week ago.

Clark MacDonald’s tractor trailer was found parked at the northbound rest area off Interstate 95 in Pittsfield, according to police. The keys were in the ignition and some of MacDonald’s clothing and his cell phone were in the cab.

MacDonald, 42, of Oakfield, drove the empty rig through the Maine Turnpike’s northbound Gardiner toll plaza shortly before noon on Nov. 8 and his truck was found later that day. A police search of the rest area came up empty.

MacDonald was driving the truck for Little Rock Express of Houlton and was headed to Massachusetts with a load of potatoes, said Dave Britton, a co-owner of the company. Britton said MacDonald called him at about 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 8 to say he was fueling up in Bangor.

Britton told the Bangor Daily News that he thinks MacDonald hooked the wrong trailer to his truck before leaving, which is why the trailer that was found in Pittsfield was empty.
