The Columbia Journalism Review Daily (cjrdaily.com) did a write-up on the Littles earlier this month and talked to the creator of the original newspaper goldfish cam, Steve Hymon at the Los Angeles Times.

CJR reporter Felix Gillette quotes Hymon as saying: “I suppose I’m flattered in some funny way. I don’t think readers in Los Angeles or Lewiston or any other town with a goldfish cam should mistake this for serious science. That said … it’s a fun way to engage readers in a serious issue.”

To highlight water-quality issues with the Androscoggin River, the Sun Journal plunked five goldfish in a tank of water from the river and named them after the candidates for governor, the people with the power to make change.
