BANGOR (AP) – A memorial service will be held Dec. 4 for Richard Burr Bronson Sr., who was instrumental in bringing television to the Bangor area. Bronson died last Friday at the age of 84.
He started out in radio in 1941 in Massachusetts and moved to the Bangor area to work at WABI radio in 1949. Bronson became program director at WABI-TV when it hit the airwaves in January 1953. He was also an announcer and produced local shows for WABI, the first television station north of Boston.
A memorial will be held in Bangor.
