WEST GARDINER (AP) – Sports fans wearing tattered jerseys or ragged baseball caps to support a team is commonplace. But it’s only the devout fans who see a team through victory and defeat. Literally.

Jayme Quinn, who has begun wearing contact lenses that say Patriots and show the team’s emblem, has a gaze that is unmistakably Patriots blue.

“This is just in the good spirit to support a good team,” she said. “I don’t really need correctional lenses.”

The lenses, available in all NFL club logos, cost around $50. Quinn said she wears the lenses to support the Patriots, which play the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Her loyalty, however, has caught the attention of many who can’t stop staring at the woman with the football eyes.

“My mom thinks it’s nuts and won’t look at me,” she said. “One customer at my work kept staring at me and jumped out of his bones.”

Quinn has been a Patriots fan since she was a child. She also is supporting the team by chalking a countdown to the Super Bowl on her car window. She plans to wear the lenses until Sunday.

“I’ll wear them longer if they win,” she said.
