PARIS (AP) – A New Hampshire trucker was charged with manslaughter Friday in connection with a crash that killed a Bethel woman in March.
An Oxford County grand jury indicted Lee Hillsgrove, whose fully loaded 36-ton logging truck toppled onto Rebecca Shaw’s car on Route 26 in South Paris.
Prosecutors say Hillsgrove was following another logging truck so closely that he left no room to stop when the other truck swerved to avoid another vehicle.
The trucker from Alton, N.H., then plowed into incoming traffic, and Shaw’s car was crushed.
