OLD ORCHARD BEACH (AP) – A 14-year-old girl from Lyman died when the car she was riding in hit a tree, police said.
The car was driven Saturday night by a 17-year-old who was taken to the Maine Medical Center. Neither the identity of the driver nor of the passenger were released by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.
The accident happened at 6:28 p.m. on the Ross Road.
The accident remains under investigation but speed appeared to be a factor, said Lt. Keith Babin. Alcohol was not a factor, he said.
