Dear Sun Spots: Your column is my favorite part of the newspaper, and you help many people. Now I am seeking the help of your readers who love to craft.

Wal-Mart offers a less expensive, but great selection of fabrics, yarns and crafting materials. Not all of the local crafters can afford to buy at a crafting specialty store, especially when they are crafting for the many local charities. Wal-Mart as an inexpensive alternative may end in the near future. It has come to my attention that Wal-Mart’s out-of-state headquarters is planning to drastically reduce, if not eliminate, the craft department in the Auburn location to make room for a party supply department.

If you are against this change, please call Wal-Mart customer service at 1-800-WALMART or 1-800-925-6278. If you select the Wal-Mart option (press 2 on your touch-tone phone) and comments about a shopping experience (press 1), you can let them know your opinion about this decision. You should mention store 1868, Auburn, Maine.

Dear Sun Spots: I work with adults with disabilities in the Lewiston-Auburn area. I am trying to help them obtain some items that it is not possible for them to purchase. An elderly blind client would love an 8-track player to play his old tapes. Another client has very little furniture. As he is a large gentleman, I am looking for a queen-size bed. Also he needs a bureau, a vacuum and a table or entertainment system for his TV. Thank you for having a great column helping so many individuals.
