Breastfeeding

AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome. The discussion will focus on “The Advantages of Breastfeeding For Mother and Baby.” All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion. There will be no meeting during October. For breastfeeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.

DAR meeting

AUBURN — Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will
begin their new year of meetings at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the summer
cottage of Bea Hodgkin on Cove Road. The meeting will be a workshop for the 115th anniversary celebration in 2010. Members should bring a bag lunch and ideas.

DAR has been an influence in the area since 1895. The nonpolitical group has worked for
historic preservation, service for Veterans, patriotic endeavors and
promotion of education. Any woman
over 18 who can trace a direct bloodline to a Revolutionary War soldier

OES meeting

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at
7:30 p.m. Thursday Sept. 10, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. Mary
Seaman, McKinney-Vento homeless education liaison for STEP (Students
Transitional and Experiencing Progress), will be speaking. Members
should bring donations of personal care items, hats, gloves and
chocolates for Seaman’s students. Members should also bring
nonperishable food items for the High Street Congregational Church food
pantry. The meeting will be preceded by a multicultural potluck supper
at 6:15 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Grange meeting

AUBURN — Danville Junction Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the hall. The program will be a planning session for the coming year. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Travelers meeting

AUBURN — Members of Twin City Council 160 of the United Commercial Travelers of America will hold a dinner meeting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Village Inn. Reservations must be made in advance by calling Robert Hutchinson at 783-0451. All members and guests are welcome to attend.
