RANGELEY – A Rangeley man was arrested Thursday afternoon on a charge of dealing cocaine, after police searched his home and found the drug, $25,000 in cash and narcotics packaging paraphernalia, police said.
Philip Carter, 51, of High Street was taken into custody at Sargent’s Sports Pub and Grub on Main Street by a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officer, Rangeley officer Jared Austin said.
Carter was arrested Wednesday night on charges of operating under the influence and possession of four grams of cocaine, police Chief Dennis Leahy said. He was released from a Farmington jail on $3,000 unsecured bail and scheduled to appear in court Feb. 20, 2009.
Police secured the residence at 7 a.m. Thursday and executed a search warrant about 1 p.m. Inside, they found more than an ounce of the drug, the cash, a digital scale with cocaine residue on it, narcotics packaging paraphernalia and illegal fireworks, Leahy said. Carter was not there at the time.
Assisting Rangeley police were MDEA agents and Maine State Police.
He was being held without bail Thursday night on the drug charge and violating his conditions of his release, Austin said.
