LIVERMORE FALLS – A Livermore man has been charged with arson in connection with Molotov cocktails tossed on property at Murray Hall and Livermore Falls middle and high schools in late May.
Police issued Allen Buzzell, 19, a summons on the felony charge, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.
Lt. Thomas Gould previously said that the incidents appeared to be random acts and the buildings involved were not targeted for any particular reason.
On May 26, police responded to a small fire in the parking lot behind Verso Paper’s Murray Hall on Main Street, after witnesses reported seeing a vehicle driver toss a glass jar into the lot that started burning, Gould said at the time.
The officers found the same type of burn pattern at the front entrance to the high and middle schools, Gould said.
“Evidence from the scene indicated that the items were some type of Molotov cocktail that was thrown from a moving vehicle and burst into flames,” Gould had said. “No damage was done to either building as the items struck the concrete and brick portion of the structures.”
The glass jars were filled with chemicals designed to ignite and burn in a concentrated area, he said.
