WILTON – The annual meeting of Foothills Land Conservancy, a land trust working in the Franklin County region for more than 10 years, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Academy Hill School cafeteria.
Speakers include Stephanie Gilbert, farmland specialist with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources, and Paul Hersey, natural resources district conservationist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Gilbert will lead a discussion on her presentation, “Why Communities Need to Protect Farms and Farmland,” and encourage the audience to share thoughts and concerns about farms in their communities.
Hersey will talk about the five-year agricultural plan for the fields owned by Foothills at the headwaters of Wilson lake.
The meeting is open to land trust members and the public. A social time will precede the meeting.
