LIVERMORE FALLS – Police are investigating a spree of incidents in which street lights and phone lines were damaged by shotgun fire in the Pine Ridge Park area.

The damage occurred early Wednesday morning and some phone service remained disrupted through Thursday, police Lt. Thomas Gould said.

Officer Cort Hladik responded to a report of gunshots about 1:49 a.m. Wednesday, along with Jay police Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier, and upon arrival discovered two street lights were shot out in the mobile home park area.

“Evidence located at the scene indicated a 12-gauge shotgun was used to cause the damage,” Gould said.

Hladik was able to locate witnesses and conducted interviews for about two hours.

“At this time, we believe the suspects were juveniles who were under the influence of alcohol,” Gould said. “It is believed they were driving around in a vehicle shooting at the lights with the shotgun.”

The investigation was continuing Thursday and police have some suspects, he said.

An employee from FairPoint Communications told police some of the phone lines and connectors on the wires that were shot are still being repaired, Gould said.
