JAY – School board members are scheduled Thursday to discuss contining to offer 13 high school courses with under 10 students registered for the 2008-09 school year.
A request was submitted to offer the following courses that meet that criteria: accounting, America in the ’60s, AP calculus, advanced trigonometry, economics and current events, French III and IV combined, issues in literature, journalism, math 1, math 1 lab, Maine/Jay history, senior composition, and Spanish IV.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at the middle school library.
Also on the agenda is Superintendent Robert Wall’s recommendation to eliminate the following positions for 2008-09: high school assistant principal/athletic director, half-time industrial arts technology teacher position, an educational technician position and a Title I reading teacher position.
The positions are part of the proposed $10.2 million budget voters will consider in June.
There are also three executive sessions scheduled for a student disciplinary hearing, discussion on negotiations with Jay cafeteria workers and the administrators’ association; and to discuss nominations for the student school committee seat.
