FARMINGTON – Another full-time position on the Farmington Police Department is open. Police Chief Richard Caton said the opening resulted from Rick Billian leaving the department.
“We’re back at it,” he said, “it’s a never-ending battle.”
On the plus side, two new officers hired last month are on board and undergoing a seven-week field training program. They are progressing nicely, he said.
Kyle Ellis of Wilton and Michael Adcock, formerly of Massachusetts, are undergoing the field training, Caton said, to familiarize them with the town’s policies. They will also perform a community project, he said.
Caton is hoping Ellis will be able to attend the Police Academy in January. Adcock attended an academy in Massachusetts.
Applications for the new opening are being accepted until Dec. 14, Caton said. If necessary, the new officer may be able to attend the academy in August.
