LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen have adopted a payroll form to be filled out by the town manager, verified by the treasurer and approved by the board pertaining to wage increases pending voter approval of the budget.

The form would be filled out after selectmen and the Budget Committee approve the budget and before it goes to town meeting, Town Manager Martin Puckett said Friday. Once the budget is approved, the raise would go into effect, he said.

Three signatures are required on the form with the final step being signatures of a majority the selectmen.

Board Chairman Jackie Knight said the form is one Puckett developed.

Selectmen recently wrestled with there being no records of a raise for Puckett though he had been receiving a $5,000 raise per past precedent since July 1, 2006. The board made the raise official in August, retroactive to July 2006.

Selectmen also voted Tuesday to take $7,200 from the town’s $26,816 contingency fund to pay for repairs to police cruisers and a switch for the municipal building generator.

Knight said new transmissions needed to be installed in a 2005 Ford at a cost of $2,881 and in a 2004 Chevrolet at a cost of $2,500.

Initially, it was thought the 2005 Crown Victoria only needed a part, but after the $565.66 repair was made the transmission broke again, Knight said.
