FARMINGTON – A Lewiston teenager was summoned Wednesday on a charge of gross sexual assault after being accused of having sex with a Wilton girl under age 14, police said.

The Franklin County District Attorney’s Office received a referral from Maine Department of Health and Human Services, and state prosecutors assigned the case to Franklin County sexual assault investigator Detective David St. Laurent.

The Lewiston boy was 16 when he allegedly had sex with the girl in January, St. Laurent said, and because of her age it is a felony charge.

St. Laurent said he conducted the investigation with assistance from the Wilton Police Department.

The boy will face the charge in the juvenile court system, the sheriff’s detective said.
