JAY – School boards from Jay and SAD 36 will meet at a workshop Thursday to see how the two school systems could work more closely together.

“The boards will be discussing ideas and concerns regarding a collaborative movement for the two school systems,” said Clint Brooks, chairman of Jay School Committee.

“The whole idea is to be able to get together in one room to toss around some ideas on how can we give our kids a better education while trying to save tax dollars,” said Denise Rodzen, chairwoman of SAD 36’s collaboration committee.

She’s hoping it is a meeting of the minds to generate some ideas so that the best things from both systems could be used to give students better offerings instead of reinventing the wheel, she said.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Jay Middle School library.

“The public is welcome to attend, but it should be noted this will be a dialogue opportunity for board members only at this point,” Brooks said. “Public participation will be welcomed and encouraged as part of this process at a later juncture as we continue this important process.”
