FARMINGTON – No one was injured when a fire destroyed a local family’s home Sunday night, Fire Chief Terry Bell said.
The home’s owner, Michelle Robinson, and her two children – the oldest was said to be 14 – were away when the fire started, Bell said.
A neighbor noticed “a lot of smoke, and thought it (looked like) more than a barbecue,” Bell said, so he went to investigate just before 8:30 p.m. He found smoke and fire coming out of the windows of Robinson’s 421 Owen Mann Road home.
The Fire Department arrived by 8:33, but firefighters from Farmington, Temple, Strong and New Sharon were unable to save the house, which was “fully involved’ by the time they arrived.
“They lost everything,” Bell said. He didn’t have an estimate of the value of damage, but said the property was insured.
Firefighters left the scene at 11:45 that evening. Bell said Tuesday the cause of the blaze was undetermined and under investigation.
The United Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family. They’re believed to be staying with friends for the time being.
