LIVERMORE FALLS – Selectmen have offered the town manager position to a candidate and are negotiating with that person, selectmen’s Chairman Ken Jacques said Tuesday.

The board is hoping to finalize negotiations and announce and introduce the candidate during the selectmen’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the town office, Jacques said.

This is the second time selectmen have been close to hiring a new manager to fill the position that has been vacant since Alan Gove left in mid-July.

In the first round of applications, selectmen offered the job and went through background checks but the candidate elected not to take it.

This time, the same search committee that reviewed applications in the first round, chose three candidates whom the board interviewed last week. The selectmen then offered the job to their top choice.
