JAY – Jay Development Corp. directors on Monday approved a building design for Androscoggin Bank and a lease to Bob Bahre for the property the bank is to be built on at Jay Plaza.
Resident Joe Diaz objected to the proposal and asked selectmen in their capacity as directors to deny the project.
Jay Realty Trust, in which Bahre of Paris is a trustee, has a 99-year lease from the Jay Development Corp. for the Jay Community Development Park subdivision property at Jay Plaza, where Hannaford is located. The town owns the property but the development corporation has authority and oversight of it. There is about 78 years left on the overall lease of the property.
The Planning Board approved plans to create a 12th lot in the subdivision last week, pending a state traffic study.
The lot is just over an acre and would be south of McDonald’s Restaurant located parallel to Route 4.
Roy Hibyan, executive vice president of Androscoggin Bank, said the building would be about 3,000 square feet and would have three drive-up windows including one with an automated teller.
The building would also have a conference room with a kitchen and bathroom facilities that community organizations would be able to use after hours and there would be an outside area with park benches and shrubs, Hibyan said.
Hibyan said the plans call for the master sign for the plaza to be moved to near the entrance closest to Hannaford.
