• There are about 200 acres of high-bush blueberries in Maine.
• In general, between 6,000 to 10,000 pounds of fruit are produced per acre of high-bush blueberries.
• Total wild blueberry crop in Maine and Canada estimated to be 194 million pounds, with 75 million pounds in Maine.
• It is estimated that 53,000 hives of bees from around the United States were in Maine for crop pollination this spring.
• In addition, about 1,000 non-migratory Maine hives were also pollinating blueberries.
• Maine’s wild blueberries and high-bush blueberries are among the fastest growing farm industries in Maine.
