JAY – School Committee members plan to interview two candidates for a vacant seat on the board in executive session when they meet Thursday.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14, in the Jay Middle School library.
Two candidates, Judy Diaz and Tammy St. Pierre, submitted applications to fill Gene Uhuad’s seat until the next town meeting in April, Superintendent Robert Wall said Monday.
Uhuad resigned from the board in June, citing changes in job responsibilities.
After interviews by the board, which Wall estimated would take about an hour, the committee is scheduled to go into another executive session for a hearing to consider a student’s request for readmission, he said.
Wall estimated the regular meeting would start at about 7:30 p.m.
That portion includes an update on the major fire on June 28 at the Jay school bus garage where two buses and a tractor were destroyed and the building damaged.
The board is also expected to enter another executive session to discuss negotiations for the secretaries, library clerk, administrators and cafeteria workers.
After that, the superintendent is expected to recommend approval of proposed collective bargaining agreements for the three groups.
