FARMINGTON – A Farmington man was injured Monday after he attempted to slow his motorcycle to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him that was turning into Cumberland Farms on Main Street.

Randall Gauvin, 51, lost control of the 1998 BMW 650 cycle and fell off it at about 9:13 a.m., Farmington police officer Drew Hufnagel said Monday.

It did not strike the vehicle, Hufnagel said.

Gauvin’s right knee was badly bruised and he had cuts on his ankle, the officer said.

He was wearing a helmet, Hufnagel said, and that did prevent head injury.

Gauvin was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington by NorthStar Emergency Medical Services where he was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The motorcycle had about $200 damage.
