LIVERMORE FALLS – Voters at the annual town meeting Wednesday night agreed to reduce the emergency dispatch services budget by $1,000 and the Police Department budget by $2,000.

Resident Clayton Putnam recommended that if more money is needed for emergencies, it could from a $15,000 town contingency account.

The two budgets stand at $132,000 and $306,882, respectively.

Voters were also sticking to selectmen’s recommendations choosing to support $70,400 for capital improvements and $10,000 for legal services.

Voters also approved raising $2,350 for the town’s share of the Area Youth Sports share of insurance for umpires, coaches and participants.

Voters had dealt with 32 of 50 articles by late Wednesday passing all of them as written except for two. More than 50 residents continued to discuss town business at Murray Hall.

On Tuesday, residents voted on two nonbinding votes at the polls pertaining to emergency dispatch and switching from Androscoggin County to Franklin County.

Residents voted 164-90 to keep the dispatch services with Livermore Falls Police Department instead of having Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department do the dispatching.

Voters also decided by 145-90 to leave Androscoggin County and join Franklin County. The Legislature would have to approve an enabling bill prior to the vote going officially before Livermore Falls voters and all others in Franklin County.

An enabling bill before a legislative committee this year was rejected by a majority of the committee after it was amended to allow voters in Androscoggin and Franklin counties vote on the county change.
