RANGELEY PLANTATION – Residents rejected an article for health-appointment transportation and reduced a request for the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce during their annual town meeting Monday.

However, voters passed all other articles in the 52-article warrant.

Voters rejected a $3,325 request for Rangeley Region Health appointment transportation. Voters have rejected similar articles in previous years, Haley said.

Voters reduced a $1,300 request by the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce to $500, Haley said.

Town Clerk Carole Haley, who has served the town for more than 40 years, was re-elected to another term as town clerk and register of voters.

Also re-elected were Assessor Cary Keep, Tax Collector/Treasurer Elizabeth Swiney, School Board member Stephanie Keep, and Road Commissioner Jason Swiney, Haley said Wednesday.

Of the town’s 112 registered voters, 32 attended the meeting.

It took them 90 minutes to act on the town’s business, Haley said, which is about 60 minutes longer than usual.

The group settled on a $360,588.81 spending package.

“We raised $255,000 and we carried over $105,588.81,” Haley said.

Residents spent 30 minutes on an article for ambulance service, Haley said, before they approved the amount requested at $25,142.

Townspeople did approve raising $15,000 for a new computer and software for the town office for the tax collector and treasurer.
