WILTON – Jay Town Manager Ruth Marden was resting at home in Wilton on Friday after she was injured in an accident Thursday afternoon.
“I’m all right, just all banged up and bruised,” Marden said. “I’m just very, very sore.”
She was injured Thursday after her vehicle slid on black ice and her truck hit a guardrail and rolled on its roof on Routes 2 and 27 in New Sharon.
Marden was suspended upside down from her seat belt until New Sharon firefighters could free her.
She was taken to a Farmington hospital and treated and released.
She has bruises all over including on her hip, arms and a nasty bruise on her temple, she said.
She also was bruised from the seat belt and has neck and back pain, she said.
“I’m so fortunate,” Marden said. “I have to give Franklin County Deputy Aaron Turcotte credit. He had already called out (Department of Maine Transportation) previous to my accident because he had noticed the road was icy there.”
Turcotte blamed the accident on road conditions.
Marden also noted that the ambulance crew and firefighters did a great job taking care of her and freeing her from the truck.
She said she’ll be back at her office in Jay on Tuesday. The office is closed Monday for Presidents Day, she said.
The Jay town office crew and Larry Wright sent her flowers, chowder and homemade bread.
Wright also brought her work bag, so she could work from home, she said.
