FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington will present award-winning fiction writer Lewis Robinson as the first reader in its 2009-10 Visiting Writers Series on Thursday, Sept. 17.
Robinson will read from his work at 7:30 p.m. in The Landing in the UMF Olsen Student Center. The reading is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a book-signing.
Winner of a Whiting Award in 2003, Robinson is the author of the novel “Water Dogs” and “Officer Friendly and Other Stories.” His work has appeared in numerous publications, including Sports Illustrated, and on NPR’s “Selected Shorts” program. He teaches in the Stonecoast MFA program at University of Southern Maine and coaches girls’ soccer and basketball at Waynflete School in Portland. He is a graduate of Middlebury College and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
