AUBURN – St. Dominic Regional High School has announced its 2009 Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees. The St. Dom’s Athletic Hall of Fame honors former players and coaches who have achieved athletic excellence throughout their careers at St. Dom’s and in their communities.
A Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Paul Bouchard, class of 1953. The Athletic Hall of Fame inductees are: Normand Bureau (‘51), Aime Morin (‘51), Julie-Ann Robert-Booker (‘94), Katharine Vincent-McKay (‘03), and Coach Larry Charest (‘61-‘67 & ‘74-‘75).
State Champions Recognition Award will be presented to the 1952 Boys Tennis Team. Team members were: Raymond A. Beaudoin (’55). Raymond E. Beaudoin (’55), Francis Vallee (’55), Paul Bouchard (’53), Robert Beaudette (’52), Paul St. Hilaire (’54), Rev. Paul Lachance OFM (’55), Albert Seguin (’55), Raymond Phil Cloutier (’55), Richard Eugene Dube (’55), Maurice Belleville (’55), Robert Gilbert (’54), Bertrand Lajoie (’55), Raymond Sutton (’52), Albert Landry Jr. (’55), Bertrand Lacombe (’54), Robert C. Morin (53), Louis Pelletier (’55), Gerald Bouffard (’55), Normand Leclair (’53), Walter Bonneau (’53), Paul Lagueux (’52), Roland Ducharme (’55) and Gilbert Marcotte (’55).
The induction dinner and awards ceremony will take place Saturday, Sept. 19 at St. Dom’s. A social will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner following at 6:30 p.m., catered by Paul and Kate Landry of Fishbones and Mac’s Grill. Tickets are available for $25 each. Everyone is welcome. Sox greats to play at Pettengill on Saturday
AUBURN – Former Boston Red Sox players Bob Stanley, Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd, Sam Horn, Jim Corsi and more will be returning to and competing in Auburn as the Auburn Firefighters Local 797 Children’s Fund presents a Red Sox Alumni charity softball game on Saturday, Sept. 13. Game time is 7 p.m. at Pettengill Park.
In addition to the main event there will be a chance for autographs and pictures after the game and a free baseball/softball clinic before the game starting at 6 p.m. Money raised will help support the Children’s Fund. Tickets will be available for a suggested $10 donation.
LMS Demons hockey tryouts Saturday
LEWISTON – Tryouts for this year’s Lewiston Middle School Blue Demons hockey team will be held aat 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Androscoggin Bank Colisee. There is a tryout fee of $20. Registration begins at 4 p.m., and forms will be available at the tryout. All participanst also must be registered with USA Hockey and must bring proof of registration in order to get on the ice.

Maineiacs golf tourney to benefit education
TURNER – The Lewiston Maineiacs’ sixth-annual golf outing to benefit the Maineiac Education Foundation is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21 at Turner Highlands Country Club. All proceeds go to the team’s education foundation, which is established to help Maineiacs players continue their education while playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Golfers will have the opportunity to meet and play golf with members of this year’s team as well as a chance to win raffle prizes and bid on autographed memorabilia.
