At the Maine State Grange family camp out weekend, Riley Parmenter,
right, entered the nature project contest for 5- to 7-year-olds and won
first place for his design of wind chimes that he made with sea shells
and fishing line. His brother, Aidan, left, entered the napkin holder
category for 8- to 10-year-olds and won first place for his creation
made with sea shells and wood. Each first place winner receives $15 and
a blue ribbon. They are the sons of Eric and Cher Parmenter of Greene.
Absent at the time of the photo was Brianna Goldrup and Savannah
Hallowell, who each won first place in their group for drawing a
picture, with their entries going to the National Grange.Hallowell
also won first place in the banner contest, which she made of fabric
with a picture of "What Grange Means to Me," first in the 11 to 14 age
bracket for her napkin holder and first in her age group for Canada Day
cookies.
