HS meeting

POLAND — The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Old Schoolhouse on Route 26. David Tedford will present a program on the “Apple Industry in New Gloucester,” written by Allison Strout. Following the presentation, refreshments will be served and then there will be a short business meeting.

Gluten-free baking

LEWISTON — Helen Sanders, owner of Little Bay Baking Company and veteran gluten-free cook and baker will teach gluten-free baking from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Nutrition Center of Maine, 208 Bates St.

Sanders will teach participants how to make gluten-free chocolate whoopie pies, give tips on gluten-free baking and show simple ways to put together gluten-free mixes. Cribbage play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League met Sept.10 at the Multi Purpose Center. Winners were: first/second tie, Terry Chambers and Sandy Verrill with Claire Jean and Bill Mickalide; third/fourth tie, Bob Leclair and John Violette with Sandra Oliver and Ron Hynes; fifth, Anna Faucher and Robert Oliver.

OES meeting

LISBON FALLS — Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, for the official visitation at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196. Stephanie Dupal, grand conductress, will conduct the official visit. Refreshments will follow the meeting. All members of the Order are invited to attend.
