As a resident and taxpayer in the town of Sabattus, I have concerns about recent developments regarding the resignation of our town manager.
I have been following the details in the Sun Journal and attended a recent “citizen action group” meeting. The selectmen recently accepted the resignation of our town manager. Some community members have formed a citizen action group to investigate. Two of our state officials are deeply involved: Rep. Stacy Dostie and Sen. John Nutting.
In my opinion, those two should be more concerned about the problems of our state instead of town politics. Sen. Nutting is a resident of Leeds. The selectmen are elected to take care of town business, and the others state business. We all have opinions of how the state is run, I will leave it at that. This issue needs to be resolved, if resolution is necessary, at the town level, and shouldn’t be made into a political issue.
Three of our selectmen have been tried in the press and that is unfair to them and the town. In my humble opinion, it is political in nature. Especially when a recent letter stated: “…take the town back.” I have always found the entire board to act in the best interest of our town.
