EUSTIS — The president of Stratton Lumber Inc. said he is thankful for firefighters and company employees for the work they did Tuesday to minimize a fire there.
A spark from either a planer mill or sawmill caught some dust on fire in a chip bin Tuesday, damaging the roof of a building.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Rusty Fearon, the Eustis fire chief, and all the firefighters from Eustis, Rangeley and Carrabassett Valley who put out the fire at the mill,” President Petr Smetanka said. “Along with our employees who reacted in a very disciplined way, the firefighters managed to limit the damage to a minimum, and as a result, the mill was up and running (on Wednesday). The presence of such dedicated and competent services in our community is a huge part of our ongoing success.”
