NORWAY — A local man who skidded a car across Main Street early Thursday morning missed landing in the Pennesseewassee Stream by about 10 feet.

Police said 19-year-old Carl R. Lang was driving on Pleasant Street late Wednesday night when he drove through a stop sign, crossed Main Street and bounced over an embankment.

The Infinity car Lang was driving skidded for about 60 yards before coming to rest before the water, according to Norway police Sgt. James Ventresca.

He said Lang fled on foot but was later found at his home at 16 Cottage St. He was unhurt and was charged with driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crash.

The car was owned by a friend, Ventresca said.

Lang was taken to the Oxford County Jail and was later released on bail. The crash remains under investigation.
