BATH – Carley Denis scored a pair of breakaway goals to lead Lewiston to a 2-1 triumph over Morse in KVAC field hockey action Saturday.
The Blue Devils (2-5) took better advantage of their offensive opportunities as Denis found a line to the goal at the 15:34 and 4:49 marks of the first half.
Liseh Anderson converted a relay from Shannon Rice at the 22:45 mark of the second half to cut the deficit in half, but the Shipbuilders (0-6) failed to set sail from that point forward.
Alejandro Rodriguez made eight saves for Morse, while goalie Emily Craig repelled 17 to earn the win in net for Lewiston.
Winthrop 6, St. Dom’s 0
AUBURN – Kelsey Ouellette scored twice and assisted on three others to lead unbeaten Winthrop to a 6-0 victory over St. Dom’s.
Nikki Scott added a pair of goals and an assist, while Kenzie Hill and Mary Blanchard also scored.
Katie Michelsen turned aside four shots for the shutout. Jenna Fongamie made 22 saves for the Saints (0-5-1).
Gray-NG 7, Poland 0
GRAY – Poland’s defensive shields were complete down as Gray-New Gloucester delivered seven missiles in a 7-0 rout in field hockey action Saturday.
Senior forward Laura Hagelin set the tone early by recording four goals for the Patriots (3-2), delivering three in the first half. Meghan Landry pitched in with a goal and an assist for Gray-New Gloucester.
Goalie Lindsay Kasik was busy on defense for the Knights (0-5), making 22 saves in the game. Goalie Megan Trafford earned the win in net for Gray-New Gloucester without even having to make a single save.
Telstar 5, Georges Valley 1
THOMASTON – T.J. Cowin fashioned a pair of goals in the first half to guide Telstar to a 5-1 victory over Georges Valley.
Amanda Wiley got things going for the Rebels (6-0) at the 26:37 mark of the first half. Cowin followed with a pair of goals less than four minutes apart. The Rebels took a 3-1 lead at the break.
Brooke Fournier redirected an Ariana Wadsworth shot for the Buccaneers (1-5).
Wiley secured another goal in the second half for Telstar, her second tally of the game. And, Jamie Steven chipped in with a goal to go along with an earlier assist.
Brunswick 2, Edward Little 1
BRUNSWICK – Haley Shaw snapped tie with her winning goal in the second half as Brunswick slipped away with a 2-1 victory over Edward Little.
The Dragons (3-3) got on the board first when Olivia Tetu scored on an unassisted goal. But the Red Eddies (2-5) bounced back when Emily Ranucci scored on a Katie Williamson feed.
But Shaw’s game-winner held up in the second half to seal Brunswick’s victory. But the Red Eddies dominated the game, outshooting the Dragons, 13-8, and held the advantage in corners at 13-3.
Edward Little goalie Kayla Cummings made six saves.
Oxford Hills 1, Mt. Blue 0
FARMINGTON – Heather verrier knocked in a rebound with 12:33 remaining to lift Oxford Hills to a 1-0 KVAC field hockey victory over Mt. Blue.
Maria Kimball had 10 saves to record the shutout for the Vikings (5-1). Amanda Hall stopped five shots for Mt. Blue (2-4).
Girls’ soccer
Sacopee Valley 2, Gray-NG 1 OT
GRAY – Emily Lane fired a rocket into the low far post of the cage with 1:18 remaining in the overtime frame to lift Sacopee Valley to a 2-1 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in WMC girls’ soccer.
The Hawks (2-3) unloaded first as Melissa Mayhew conveyed a pass from Lane into the back of the net at 26:26 of the first half.
Taylor Darnell knotted up the contest at 1-1 for the Patriots (0-4) at the 34:22 mark of the second half on an unassisted tally. Alicia Valente played well on defense for Gray-New Gloucester.
Goalie Taylor Damon made five saves for the Patriots, while goalie Courtney Ross earned the win in net for the Hawks with nine deflections.
Boys’ soccer
St. Dom’s 8, Winthrop 0
AUBURN – Three players scored multiple goals as St. Dom’s cruised to an 8-0 shutout victory over Winthrop in MVC boys’ soccer action Saturday.
The Saints (4-0) jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead, and tabulated another four goals in the second half. Dakota Keene, Jackson Erickson and Garrett Darnell recorded two goals apiece.
Goalie Nick Brigham made five saves for St. Dom’s, while Adam St.Pierre turned back eight shots for the Ramblers.
Gray-NG 2, Lake Region 1
GRAY – Jack Martel scored on a penalty kick with nine minutes to play to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 2-1 victory over Lake Region.
Erik Schrader scored in the first half for the Patriots (4-2), which ended in a 1-1 deadlock. Sam maker scored for the Lakers (2-2-2). Evan Kenney made two saves for Gray-NG, while Matt Langadas had nine for Lake Region.
