Major Warren C. Cook, United States Marine Corps, was recently awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy while serving as the Team Chief, Border Transition Team 4/2, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) from 17 August 2008 to 23 February 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Throughout this period, Cook demonstrated superior leadership and devoted himself fully to the mission of mentoring and advising Iraqi police and patrolmen of the Iraqi 4th Brigade, 2nd Region and Department of Border Enforcement in the Al Anbar Province. Through his direction, Border Transition Team 4/2 created a new combat outpost on the very edge of coalition logistical support capabilities. His dedication to improving the 4th Brigade led to the addition of 500 new border patrolmen, formal training for brigade personnel and the construction of a new brigade headquarters compound and 11 border forts.
Upon completing his fourth Iraqi deployment earlier this year, Cook assumed command of Recruiting Station Los Angeles. He is the son of Warren and Brammie Cook of Kingfield.
