Gerard and Lorraine Obie
LISBON — A surprise 50th wedding anniversary party was held on June 27 in honor of Gerard and Lorraine Obie of Lisbon. The couple was married at St. Louis Church on June 27, 1959.
Mr. Obie is the son of the late Roland and Melvina Obie, and Mrs. Obie is the daughter of the late Jules and Anna Caron of Auburn.
The celebration started at their home with a stretch limousine picking them up and taking them to the Elks Lodge in Lewiston. The party was hosted by their children, Paul and wife, Sue, of Livermore, Calif., daughter, Dianne and fiancé, Ike Wallace, of Sebasco, and daughter, Monita of Lewiston. Also attending were their grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Nicholas, Heather Ann and Jennifer. At the head table were original wedding attendants, Pauline and Donald Caron and Rita and George Raymond.
Attending were about 90 relatives and close friends from California and Florida. A buffet meal was served by Lisa Mancini and Jodi Yeaton, friends of the family. Music was enjoyed during the evening by Bob Mancini, disc jockey.
Mr. Obie was owner and operator of Georgio’s of Auburn for 10 years. He is how a part-time driver for L.A. Express.
Mrs. Obie retired after 25 years of service with the Maine Department of Labor, Unemployment Division.
The couple will be taking at trip to Nashville in October. They are members of St. Louis Church in Auburn and Mrs. Obie is an active member of the St. Louis Choir.
