LEWISTON — Advocates for Children will offer the following parenting classes at the Parent Resource Center during October:
“1-2-3 Magic” is a two-week internationally acclaimed program on child discipline. It offers a humorous look at parenting with a serious look at discipline. The class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 and 13. The registration fee is $5 and registration is required. The class will help parents find solutions to the challenges of how to discipline children ages 2 to 12.
“Active Parenting of Teens” is a six-week program that will address parenting styles, courage and self-esteem, teen behavior, problem solving, responsibility and discipline, cooperation and communication, adolescent development and other issues facing teens today. Parents will also have opportunities to practice strategies for addressing sensitive issues such as substance abuse, violence and sexuality. The class will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 6 to Nov. 10. The fee is $15 and includes a parent handbook. Registration is required.
