I send a welcome to Jim Bennett in his new job as town manager of Sabattus. I hope he can tolerate the local board of selectmen. Perhaps he can find time to educate them on how to conduct themselves at a town meeting.
Just recently, the former Sabattus town manager left his position and the board hasn’t given the residents an honest explanation of what caused his sudden departure.
I think he will find that the grass is not any greener in Sabattus, but he has dealt with some difficulties with the Lewiston City Council. I believe he will find similarities exist with the Sabattus board. I certainly have had some unpleasant experiences working with certain members of that board.
So I wish him luck. Perhaps, someday, he will find peace of mind working with a board of selectmen that has the knowledge of how to conduct business in a more civilized manner than what he experienced in Lewiston.
Robert P. Lacombe, Sabattus
