PARIS — A man pleaded guilty Monday to threatening a co-defendant in a burglary case, though his own charges related to the burglary were dismissed.

Aaron Moses Brasuell, 32, of 21 Rumford Ave., Rumford, pleaded guilty in the Oxford County Superior Court to tampering with a witness, criminal threatening, and two counts of violation of conditions of release. Brasuell also pleaded guilty to assault in a separate case. A charge of receiving stolen property was dismissed.

Brasuell’s sentence was deferred for one year, during which time he must not commit any criminal acts and refrain from using alcohol or illegal drugs. If he complies, Brasuell will receive a fully suspended six-month jail sentence with one year of administrative release and pay a $300 fine.

Brasuell was charged with threatening 19-year-old co-defendant Nation T. Miller at the Rumford Public Library in March. Police also charged that Brasuell was carrying two knives and a screwdriver with its end ground down to a point.

Brasuell and Miller, along with three other men, were charged with breaking into Casey’s Auto and Gun Shop in Mexico in January and stealing eight handguns and a rifle. The rifle and four handguns were later recovered.

According to Sun Journal archives, Miller, of Carlton Avenue in Mexico, cooperated with police when questioned about the burglary and led police to the other four men.

The assault charge against Brasuell resulted after a 45-year-old man was punched at Ralph’s Store on Cumberland Street in Rumford in August.

Miller is charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. Tyler K. Miller (no relation), 47, of Carlton Avenue, Mexico, is charged with burglary, receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Keith A. Provencher, 27, of Cumberland Street, Rumford, faces the same charges, along with one count of criminal mischief.

In August, 21-year-old Nelson Rivera of Osgood Avenue, Mexico, pleaded to a reduced charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Rivera was originally charged with receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to serve 30 days of a 364-day sentence and one year of administrative release.
