AUBURN – Raymond Peter Gagnon, 62, of East Waterman Road in Auburn, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday May 31, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 7, 1946, a son of the late Raymond F. and Marion Gagnon. Educated in local schools he graduated from Edward Little High School in 1964. Ray married the love of his life Glenda Buck on Oct. 23, 1965, after she “stole” his watch and then his heart while working together at the Chick-a-Dee Restaurant.

Raymond was a self-taught man in many different areas, including carpentry and auto restoration. He was employed for many years by Stan Ray as a skilled cabinet maker before starting his own cabinetry business. He took great pride in restoring and driving his 1955 Ford Crown Victoria and his 1956 Mercury Montclair. He will be remembered for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, which he inherited from his father. Ray was known by his family as “Little Ray.”

Ray was a devoted husband and loving father who took great pride in his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He cherished his time at camp in Andover and his time fishing with grandsons, Deven and Dylan, and hunting with his father, uncles and friends. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and playing cards with his son-in-laws, family and friends. If he was not at home or camp, you could find him hanging out with his brother Roger and nephew Clint, both of whom he was especially close to.

Raymond was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Glenda; two daughters, Karen Morin and husband, Steve, of Greene, Samantha Hannan and husband, Ed, of Lisbon; grandchildren, Christopher Morin and wife, Jessica, of Maryland, Brian Morin of Portland, Michelle Morin of Greene and Deven and Dylan Hannan of Lisbon; he also leaves sisters, Cindy Laroche and husband, Gene, of Hebron, Shirley Twitchell and husband, Gard, of Turner, Janice Conant and husband, Gary, of Auburn; brother Roger and wife, Debi, of Auburn; sister-in-law, Sue Gagnon of New York; and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was predeceased by his mother and father; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sam and Barbara Buck; brother Dickie; special uncles, Bob, Hank and Sonny; and best friend, John Hunnewell.
