WATERVILLE – Sylvia S. Parker died peacefully on April 30, at her place of residence, Lakewood Manor.

She was born on May 31, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Harry and Pauline Savatsky. She graduated from City College of New York with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1944.

She married Haskell Parker of Revere, Mass., in 1945. During their time together, they lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., Long Island, and during their retirement years, Cranbury, N.J.

She was the financial officer at Newmark & Lewis in Hicksville, N.Y., a retail appliance store for more than 26 years. She loved to read, travel, play bridge and most of all, spend time with her family.

She and Haskell had two children, Richard and Michael. Richard was a pre-medical student at Ohio University when he was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 1968. Her son, Dr. Michael Parker resides in Wilton, with his wife, Marcia. Sylvia has four grandchildren, Andrew (25), Joel (21), Zachary (19) and Mallory (13).

She was predeceased by her husband, Haskell in 2003; and her brother, Morris in 2007.

The family would like to extend their genuine appreciation to the staff of Lakewood and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care of Sylvia.
