Opponents of gay marriage quote the Bible in support of their case. However, supporters of gay marriage can play that game, too.

In Romans 13:1-2, the Bible reads, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”

Therefore, according to the Bible, Gov. John Baldacci and the rest of the Maine government were established by God to pass the law legalizing same-sex marriage. If you rebel against this law, you are rebelling against God.
