AUBURN – Jeanne L. Plourde, 79, of Lewiston, put on her dancing shoes and joined her late husband, Arthur, for a waltz around heaven on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
She was born in Keegan, on Nov. 2, 1929, the daughter of Octave J. and Philomene (Ouellette) Lavoie.
She attended St. Peter’s Parochial school and Lewiston High School. She worked at the American Bobbin Co., the Pepperell Mill, Clark Shoe and retired in 1993, after 24 years at Optometric Associates.
She married the love of her life, Arthur T. Plourde, on July 5, 1948, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998. Three months later, they danced their last waltz together the night before his untimely death.
She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Senior Citizens of Lewiston, Holy Cross Seniors, Saint Louis Seniors, Sabattus Seniors, the Jacques Cartier’s Club, La Survivance Francaise, the Red Hat Society and AARP.
She is survived by three sons, Maurice Plourde and his wife, Donna, of Groton, Mass., Roger Plourde and his wife, Susan, of Hampden and Richard Plourde and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston; four granddaughters, Tara Plourde Roy and her husband, Mike, of Lewiston, Marisa Plourde of Brewer, Monique Plourde of Arlington, Mass., and Meredith Plourde of Cambridge, Mass.; two great-grandsons, Aiden Plourde and Dacyn Roy; a step-great-granddaughter, Micaela Roy; many nieces and nephews; and many devoted dancing and cardplaying friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room, ICU and the Hospice House for their loving care.
